IOC CONGRESS - COPENHAGEN
The IOC Congress in Copenhagen is the highlight of what has become the Danish Year of Sport with more than 60 major international events taking place in the country.

On 9 October a momentous decision for rugby is to be taken in Copenhagen when members of the International Olympic Committee will vote on the recommendation that Rugby Sevens and Golf are included in the 2016 Olympic Games programme.

We're in Copenhagen to mark what could be a radical turning point for Sevens.

SEVENS HISTORY - PART ONE
Ahead of the decision by the IOC, we look back on the history of Sevens. Sevens is a highly sophisticated and specialised sport, played at venues all around the world, and with a truly international following.

The first tournament was held in the Scottish border town of Melrose in 1883 and was the brainchild of local butcher Ned Haig. The idea of abbreviating the 15-man game was born out of necessity to raise funds for the club.
